In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Certainly God does not want us to give thanks in every thing . how is that possible? Doesn't God understand that some of the things we experience down here on earth are not always pleasant?
Doesn't He know that some people are down right hard to get along with? Doesn't he understand that there are times when maintaining this "attitude of gratitude" is just not possible given the external circumstances?
Although God is well aware of all these situations, and every situation you will go through in life, His Word still maintains the same directive, in every thing give thanks.
In the worst of situations God is there and He has a wonderful way of providing hope and light in what may seem the darkest of times.
The next time you find yourself wanting to grumble or complain take a moment to pray and ask God to point out those things to you for which you can offer and attitude of gratitude.
